Mets Analysis – Savannah SPs

If you thought that the 2012 St. Lucie rotation was going to be crowded, wait until you see Savannah.

First, the 2011 starters:

Ryan Fraser – 21-starts – 6-8, 3.64, 70-K, 53-BB, 113.2-IP

Angel Cuan – 14-starts – 5-2, 3.50, 59-K, 79.2-IP

Yohan Almonte – 23-starts – 7-8, 3.81, 78-K, 118.0-IP

Gonzalez Germen – 21-starts – 6-7, 4.25, 96-K, 106.0-IP

Taylor Whitenton – 22-starts – 5-5, 2.68, 99-K, 100.2-IP

Chase Huchingson – 8-starts – 3-0, 1.77, 43-K, 35.2-IP

Eric Goeddel – 13-starts – 3-5, 3.70, 59-K, 65.2-IP

I didn’t break out Greg Peavey since he is long gone to St. Lucie.

Whitenton was your biggest find at this level and, frankly, everybody pitched pretty decent. Fraser was wild throughout the year and proved to be a better reliever.

The surprise was when Huchingson was turned into a reliever even after posting the best starter stats on the team.

I only see one pitcher returning to Savannah in 2012 (Goeddel), but, combining pitchers that faired well in Brooklyn, earned a bump to this level from Kingsport, and were drafted to pitch this year for a full season team…  you have the following additions to the rotation:

Akeel Morris, Alex Panteliodis, Marcos Camarena, Logan Verrett, Chris Hilliard, Randy Fontanez, Eduardo Aldama, Carlos Vasquez, Jeff Walters   

Fontanez could be destined for the pen, and Morris could be held back in Brooklyn, but there still is too much here. Your draft picks are the problem and they must pitch full season.

My very-uneduated guess:

April:  Goeddel, Panteliodis, Verrett, Morris. Camarena/Aldama piggy.
