White Sox Promote Beckham to Majors

The White Sox moved to improve their putrid infield offense by calling up top prospect Gordon Beckham to the big leagues in time for Thursday's game. Beckham, the 8th overall selection in last year's draft, has dominated every level he has played at, but he is just 22 and has less than 60 games of MiLB experience. He should hold his own in Chicago this year and blossom into a star (in the Ian Kinsler/Michael Young mold) within a couple of years, but I hope he is not being rushed. Beckham (called up the same two-week period as Matt Wieters, David Price, Tommy Hanson, Fernando Martinez, and Andrew McCutchen) leaves the minors with a .326/.378/.526 line and a whopping 23 doubles.
