Super Regionals Recap

Austin Super Regional
Winner- Texas
TCU gave the Longhorns a scare and pushed the series to three games, but UT prevailed behind great pitching from Chance Ruffin and Taylor Jungmann. The Longhorns head to Omaha with the requisite 6 arms (Ruffin, Cole Green, Jungmann, Austin Wood, Brandon Workman, and Austin Dicharry) to win, but an offense that will need to pick it up if they want to go all the way.

Fullerton Super Regional
Winner- Cal State Fullerton
The Titans dominated in all phases of the game, playing true Titan baseball in a quick sweep of Louisville. Daniel Renken and Noe Ramirez were outstanding, the entire offense executed flawlessly, and CSF is on track to have a shot to go all the way.

Baton Rouge Super Regional
Winner- LSU
LSU beat Rice in two games behind excellent starts from Anthony Ranaudo and Louis Coleman. (Who else?) Those 2 studs, and the very good Tiger offense, will lead the charge against Virginia in the opening round of the College World Series.

Chapel Hill Super Regional
Winner- North Carolina
For the fourth straight year, the Tar Heels are Omaha-bound. Alex White and Adam Warren turned in magnificent outings and UNC got production up and down the lineup as well as from stalwarts Kyle Seager and Dustin Ackley. They have to face ASU's Mike Leake in the opener this weekend, but the Tar Heels are still a favorite to win it all.

Tempe Super Regional
Winner- ASU
Sticking to their tried-and-true formula, the Sun Devils rode the arms of Mike Leake and Josh Spence--and some home cooking--to Omaha. Jason Kipnis and Carlos Ramirez had big weekends offensively, as usual, and OF Kole Calhoun is picking it up.

Oxford Super Regional
Winner- Virginia
The young Cavaliers broke through all the way to Omaha several years ahead of schedule. They overcame an incredibly difficult path (loaded Irvine Regional and then Ole Miss) by getting outstanding pitching (Danny Hultzen, Andrew Carraway, Robert Morey, Tyler Wilson, and others), timely offense, and solid baserunning.

Tallahassee Super Regional
Winner- Arkansas
The Hogs overcame the Animals of Section B to beat Florida State and advance to the College World Series. A late-season infusion of newcomers (Bo Bigham, Collin Kuhn, Jarrod McKinney) has helped get Arkansas back to their early-season ways. Dallas Keuchel, Brett Eibner, Drew Smyly, Mike Bolsinger, and Stephen Richards figure to do much of the heavy lifting pitching-wise in Omaha.

Gainesville Super Regional
Winner- Southern Miss
We have found this year's Cinderella! Southern Miss is always a very solid program, but they completed an improbable, Fresno State-like run to Omaha with a couple of convincing wins over Florida this weekend. Sr. OF Bo Davis was one of many offensive contributors, and the Golden Eagles simply seem like they are a team on a mission. (This is longtime Corky Palmer's last year as head coach.) USM will be underdogs in Omaha again (they were a 3 seed in regionals), but their scrappy, team-first approach could serve them well.
