Standout Performances: Super Regionals

8 teams punched their tickets to the College World Series during an action-packed weekend. Congrats to all the losing teams, too, as it is a feat to make it all the way to super regionals. Here are the players that helped carry their teams on the road to Omaha:

Daniel Renken, rhp, Cal State Fullerton
Renken thoroughly dismantled a good Louisville offense on Friday, throwing a complete-game shutout (the 10th time in his last 11 starts he has gone at least 8 innings), allowing just 3 hits, and striking out 10, as the Titans won 12-0. The sophomore has blossomed into a true ace; he's 10-2, 2.56 on the year.

Andrew Darr, OF, Arkansas
The light-hitting senior picked a great time to get hot. He went 4-for-5 with a walk-off double (and a homer) to help the Razorbacks earn a berth in the College World Series for the first time since 2004.

Josh Spence, lhp, Arizona State
Spence came back from a finger injury that sapped his strength for over a month to deliver a gritty complete game against Clemson on Sunday. The junior finessed his way to 10 Ks and just 2 runs allowed, and he commanded a mid-80s heater and several amazing offspeed pitches to keep the Tigers off balance. The Devils are going to Omaha with one of their big guns back in business.

Matt Smith, 1B, Ole Miss
Smith ripped a walk-off shot to lift the Rebels over Virginia in Game 1 on Friday. That wasn't enough, though, as the Wahoos came back and won the last two in Oxford.

Alex White, rhp, North Carolina
White hasn't really lived up to the enormous expectations he had in the preseason--but he kicked it up a notch against East Carolina on Saturday, similar to his flourish deep in the playoffs last year. The junior righty tossed 8.1 innings, surrendered just 1 run, and struck out 12. That helped the Tar Heels get to Omaha, and it also helped his draft stock. He's vying to be the second RHP drafted.

Kyle Seager, 3B, North Carolina
Seager rapped out 4 hits, including a home run, in that same game. UNC won 10-1.

Paul Gerrish, rhp, TCU
The redshirt junior held Texas in check for 7 innings on Sunday, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits. That gave the Horned Frogs a Game 3 opportunity.

Jared Clark, 1B, Cal State Fullerton
Clark collected 4 hits on Friday and went 2-for-4 with a homer on Saturday. Fullerton is on fire heading into the CWS.

Michael Torres, 3B, Texas
Torres hit 2 homers to give the Longhorn offense a boost in a 10-4 Saturday win over TCU. The USC transfer has had a solid year overall, seizing the starting third base job and hitting .305 with 4 homers.
