This afternoon it was reported on Stltoday.com by several different Cardinal Insiders like Joe Strauss, Derrick Gould and Jeff Gordon that the Cardinals have decided to part ways with Brendan Ryan. The Cards are willing to trade him just because of his personality, he didn't fit well witt the club. It was also reported that he didn't mesh well with McGwire. I know Ryan's offensive numbers have been slow but he has such a great defensive glove. He will be missed. Looks like Ryan will be traded before the end of the month. It is hard to speculate where he might be traded to and for what player. I believe the destination for Ryan would be the Baltimore Orioles, they need a starting shortstop. I hope for the best for Brendan Ryan.
It has been reported that Tony LaRussa has actually visited with Lance Berkman to recruit him for the St.Louis Cardinals. Other teams have intrested in him but the Cardinals is that one club that offered him the sole job at right field.
Other players that the Cards show intrest with that will improve their infield are JJ Hardy, Orlando Hudson and Jason Bartlett. I do see a big trade coming down with the Cardinals soon as the Winter Meetings approach next week. John Mozeliak has said in a interview that they are not done yet. I presume he will make a deal that will upgrade secondbase or thirdbase.
