Albert Pujols has ended negotiations with the Cardinals until after the 2011 season ends. Money wise, Pujols and the Cardinals are miles apart, and the length of contract that Albert Pujols is wanting is more than the Cardinals are willing to agree with. Some sources say that Pujols is seeking a 10 year contract in the area of 300 million dollars.

It will be very interesting to see whose jersey that Albert Pujols will be wearing next baseball season. Will the Cardinals increase their offer? Will Pujols offer a hometown discount? What other teams will jump into the bidding war? Some sources say that the Chicago Cubs will be very interested since they have several big contracts that will likely come off their payroll (Silva, Ramirez, Fukudome, and Carlos Pena). Will the team with the big pockets step up to the plate (Yankees) and offer a huge contract? Will the Yankees division rivals try to match the offer to keep Pujols from going to the Yankees?

Is there a smaller market team that will find a way to come up with the money in hopes that a player of Pujols stature will launch their team into the limelight?
