The Cardinals handed general manager John Mozeliak a three-year contract extension on Thursday, keeping him in St. Louis through the 2013 campaign.
Mozeliak replaced Walt Jocketty as general manager following the 2007 season. His career in the Cardinals organization began in 1995 in the scouting department before he served five years under Jocketty as assistant GM.
His biggest move in his two-plus year tenure at the helm was acquiring slugger Matt Holliday before the trade deadline last year, a move that vaulted the club to the top of the National League Central.
St. Louis headed into the All-Star break this year second in the division with a 47-41 record.
