Man Ram Becomes A Dodger, Finally

BRISTOL, CONNECTICUT (TICKER) — Manny Ramirez and the Los Angeles Dodgers agree to a two year 45mil deal according to ESPN.

The Dodgers have been going back and forth with Ramirez and his agent, Scott Boras, since the 2008 season ended, with Ramirez and Boras rejecting each of Los Angeles’ first four contract offers.

After helping Los Angeles reach the National League Championship Series last season, Ramirez had burned the Dodgers on several offers, turning down arbitration at the start off the offseason and a two-year, $45 million deal at the winter meetings before dismissing a one-year, $25 million offer earlier in the month and another one-year deal with a player option for a second year last week.

It is not clear what makes the current pact different from the other offers.

Ramirez hit .396 with 17 home runs and 53 RBI in 53 games with the Dodgers, who acquired the 12-time All-Star from the Boston Red Sox at the trade deadline last season.

The 36-year-old hit .332 with 37 homers and 121 RBI in 153 contests with the Dodgers and Red Sox in 2008.
